Traffic that shapes every trip
- LAX operates a centralized LAX-it pickup lot east of Terminal 1 for taxis, ride-shares, and prearranged car services, requiring guests to catch a shuttle from most terminals.
- The I-405 Sepulveda Pass between the San Fernando Valley and Westside is a primary bottleneck, with typical heavy congestion from 7:00–10:00 AM and 3:00–7:00 PM weekdays.
- Downtown Los Angeles to LAX commonly takes 35–75 minutes depending on whether the driver uses the I-110 to I-105 corridor or the I-10 to Sepulveda/405 routing.
- SoFi Stadium in Inglewood hosts Rams and Chargers games plus major concerts; event days create severe gridlock on Prairie Avenue, Century Boulevard, and surrounding arterials.
- The Hollywood Bowl season runs roughly June through September, and shows routinely back up traffic on Highland Avenue and the Hollywood Freeway (US-101) near the Cahuenga Pass.
- Century City office and shopping traffic concentrates on Santa Monica Boulevard and Avenue of the Stars, with heavy midday and evening volume especially near the Westfield Century City mall.
- Beverly Hills to Hollywood Burbank Airport is typically a 25–50 minute trip via the I-134/CA-134 or surface alternatives, highly sensitive to the 101 Freeway and Barham Boulevard congestion.
- Santa Monica to LAX via Interstate 10 and Sepulveda Boulevard usually runs 25–50 minutes, but the 405 interchange and airport loop traffic can extend this significantly during peak periods.
